A digital oscilloscope, also called a digital scope or DSO, is a type of electronic test equipment that allows signal voltages to be viewed, usually as a two-dimensional graph of one or more electrical potential differences (vertical axis) plotted as a function of time or of some other voltage (horizontal axis). In a digital oscilloscope, the vertical input, instead of driving the vertical amplifier, is digitised by an analog to digital converter to create a data set that is stored in the memory of a microprocessor. Digital scopes above 6GHz are used in: High-speed Serial, Jitter & Timing Analysis, Standards Compliance Analysis, Advanced Research and many more applications.
