Network Transmission Quality Tester

Description

The NETLINK 423 Network Transmission Quality Tester is a portable, battery operated hand-held instrument which enables field staff to perform end-to-end network tests from one end. The instrument has a simple plug-in connection to the network to any 2 wire analog interface point in the customer’s premises, in the access network or in an exchange. The NETLINK 423 network Transmission Quality Tester enables field staff to quickly and easily perform comprehensive end to end tests on the transmission quality and switching performance of the Access Network and the Inter-Exchange Telephone Network. The instrument operates with any other NETLINK 423 Tester or with NETLINK 424 Network Responders to perform its end-to-end network tests automatically.

• Can be used for pro-active testing:- service verification, network qualification and preventative maintenance
• Can also be used for reactive testing:– troubleshooting and fault finding
• Enables a single operator to perform automatic end to end network tests
• Includes a range of tests to verify whether the network can reliably support high speed Internet data transmission
• Multiple test impedances, including complex impedances are provided for a range of exchange terminations
• Can also be used to test 2, 4 and 6 wire dedicated circuits for speech and data
• Automatically checks network performance against programmable limits and highlights any exceptions
• Specifically measures latency, jitter and echo, looming as major concerns with the proliferation of packet switching such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)
• Can also check the quality of enhanced exchange services such as calling line identification and distinctive ring signals
• Has non-volatile memory to store test results for subsequent retrieval and analysis
• The unit’s LCD displays test results in a simple and unambiguous format which is easy to interpret
• Predefined instrument settings speed up testing and avoid incorrect settings
• Has an in-built modem and RS232 communications port for downloading test parameters and uploading test results
• Integral battery charger and rechargeable batteries provide economical use and extended field operation
• Automatic self-calibration eliminates long term drift and the need for field adjustments
• Can also be used to test PABX’s, dedicated private lines, and customer access network electronics such as multiplexers, pair gain systems and radio bearer systems
• Supplied with a rugged carry bag, complete with accessories including line test leads, universal mains adaptor and dc vehicle lead for battery recharging, and User Guide.
