Regatron Smart Grid Simulation and Testing
By combining Regatron DC power supplies with a grid simulator, a complete model of a Smart Grid can be built up. Thus, intensive studies on the dynamic behaviour of grids are made possible.
Within such a system, unidirectional DC power sources take over the role of “additive” energy sources like wind-, solar-, hydro- and biological power generators as also of fuel cells and on. GRIDSim Application Software is a universal tool for the ambitious engineer for the setup of TC.ACS Grid Simulators. The software not only allows for setting of unique or repetitive grid events, but rather programming of entire event sequences or even running of international agreed test patterns are on disposition. GRIDSim software covers all imaginable application needs of the R+D or test engineer. Even automated test runs, or predefined grid patterns are within a few clicks of your fingers. Due to a finely matched task sharing between the resident GRIDSim firmware and the PC-based Application Software, all time-critical operations run on-board in a real-time mode.
TC.ACS Grid Simulators Series TC.ACS use the newest multi-level inverter technology for high-resolution voltage/current patterns. By this, the Simulator is able to cover the entire fundamental frequency range from DC up to 1000 Hz and up to 5000 Hz modulation bandwidth. A specialised multi-processor core prepares all relevant voltage/current shapes in a real-time mode in order to ensure very stable phase relationship and event timing throughout the structure.

R & D Engineering as also Educational Applications call for some particular properties of the related equipment. One of the most important demands is a maximum flexibility of both the programming as also the simulator’s output structure. GRIDSim offers maximum flexibility by a really unique block programming mode considering even the smallest output parameter; on the other side the output structure is made up by a total of four (!) fully controlled output rails. By this, not only all well-known 1- to 3-phase structures may be simulated. As an additional hint the 4th rail can be defined as fully controlled Neutral N with defined reference in voltage and phase angle against the other three phases. Moreover, the four rails may also be used to create a 2-phase 4-lead system with freely programmable phase/voltage relationship. These features are of great importance in the field of educational studies.
G5.Control allows complete and easy control of the power supply unit or entire master-slave system and also offers a whole range of service functions. A powerful tool for the engineer!
G5.Control is a PC software that simplifies and speeds up the user's work. It has been completely reworked and is now even more ergonomic and provides an extended range of helpful functions.
In addition to basic control, configuration and update functions, G5.Control has a powerful integrated 8-channel digital scope. The high-resolution real-time display of numerous internal system signals allows the engineer to optimize the overall system in a targeted manner. Different configuration settings for single devices or master-slave systems are stored on the devices and can be recalled and edited with G5.Control. Firmware updates can be carried out quickly and easily for individual units as well as for master-slave systems with a single command. When handling support cases concerning the application of the power supplies, the built-in diagnostic functions help to quickly identify the problem.
The G5.Control operating, and service software is included as standard with all G5 programmable DC power supplies and runs on PCs with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Tabs and function icons can be arranged individually on the screen by the user.

Calibration and Adjustment
Calibration and adjustment of the power supplies is performed by means of the G5.Control software. Provided the necessary precision equipment is available, calibration and adjustment can be carried out in the field by the user or a third-party service provider. REGATRON will provide the required one-day password and operating instructions free of charge. REGATRON will of course also perform calibration and adjustment of power supplies at the factory for a flat service fee.
